- Apples (1 per person)
- Brown Sugar
- Walnuts (optional)
- Raisins (optional)
- Margarine or Butter
- Water
Core apples with an apple corer. Stand up apples in a kettle. Fill up the hollow cores of the apples with brown sugar. You can also add chopped walnuts and raisins, if you like. Place a few dollops of margarine in the kettle along with a little water. The water is so the apples can begin cooking, as they cook they will create their own liquid. Cover kettle and turn on high until water begins to boil. Reduce heat and continue to simmer for at least an hour. When the apples begin to crack and the flesh softens they should be done.
